The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked. :) The difference is the basic system is just an "on/off" traction system. So, you set the unit for how much wheelspin you want by your laptop, and then when you're on the road, you either turn the unit on or off to get that much wheelspin. The adjustable system comes with a cockpit mounted 6 position dial that gives you 0, 5, 10, 15, 20% wheelspin (and an off position), so that you can adjust how much wheelspin you get on the fly. For example, 5-10% wheelspin gives you maximum acceleration in the dry. But, let's say you're driving along and then it starts raining... simply flip it over to the 0 or 5% wheelspin position for added safety. Or, if you want to do some nice crazy powerslides... just switch it over to the 15 or 20% position.
